Before Coronation Street and Eastenders, and even before television soap operas there was The Huggetts.....
"Holiday Camp" the first film in which they featured was released in 1947, two years after the end of the war and is a superb snap shot of ordinary British family life. An all-star cast of characters including Dennis Price, Flora Robson, Jimmy Hanley and "Cheerful" Charlie Chester bring to life these community holidays with their beauty pageants and dancing competitions, love affairs and intrigues.
"Here Come The Huggetts" where we see the family at home dealing with the arrival in the house of the sassy Diana Dors, who seems to be a magnet for the local boys, including unfortunately the boyfriend of Susan Huggett, one of the three daughters.
"Vote For Huggett" finds Jack Warner as the little man taking on bureaucracy in his efforts to erect a war memorial. Also starring David Tomlinson, Anthony Newly and Norman Shelley this huge box office hit also continues the story of the family.
"The Huggetts Abroad" takes our typically British family from their domestic farce to an international romp, as our beloved heroes emigrate to Africa and find themselves embroiled in diamond smuggling! This time, the usual suspects are aided by Dinah Sheridan.
